The Modern Look For Wide Openings
Panel glide blinds (also called panel blinds, sliding panel blinds, or panel track blinds) are window coverings made from flat fabric panels that glide along a multi-channel track system. Each panel moves independently, sliding smoothly to the left or right.
This makes them the ideal blind for wide openings that other blinds struggle with. Sliding doors, bi-fold doors, large window banks, and floor-to-ceiling glass are all perfectly suited to panel glide blinds. They also double as room dividers; use them to split open-plan living areas into separate zones without a permanent wall.
Each panel clips onto the track using roller-mounted carriers, making them lightweight and easy to operate. Individual panels are replaceable, so if one gets damaged you can swap it without replacing the whole blind.
For Sliding Doors
Sliding doors are one of the trickiest windows to cover. Standard blinds don’t fit. Curtains get caught in the track. Vertical blinds look dated.
Panel glide blinds solve the problem. They operate on the same principle as the sliding door itself. The panels glide to the side, stacking neatly in the same direction the door opens.
When the door is in use, the blinds are out of the way. When the door is closed, the panels cover the full width. The multi-channel track system means you can position panels independently.
Cover half the glass while leaving the other half open. Adjust throughout the day as the sun moves. Panel glide blinds work with standard sliding doors, bi-fold doors, and stacking doors.
We custom make them to fit openings of any width. For homes with large living areas that open onto a deck or garden, panel glide blinds are hands-down the most practical and modern option.
Choose Your Fabric
Choose from blockout, translucent, or sunscreen fabric. All available with multi-channel track systems for any width opening.
Room Dividers
Panel glide blinds aren’t just for windows. They make excellent room dividers for open-plan spaces. Mount the track system on the ceiling to create a flexible partition that can be drawn open or closed as needed.
Use translucent panels to separate spaces while still allowing light through, or blockout panels for full visual privacy. Popular uses include separating a bedroom from a living area in a studio apartment, creating a home office zone in an open-plan room, dividing a children’s play area from the main living space, or screening off a guest sleeping area. The panels stack flat when not in use, so they take up almost no space when open.
Modern Alternative to Vertical Blinds
Panel glides and vertical blinds both cover wide openings, but they look and work quite differently.
Appearance: Panel glides have a clean, modern look with flat fabric panels. Vertical blinds have individual louvres that can look dated in contemporary homes.
Wind: Vertical blind louvres can sway and clatter in a breeze from an open door. Panel glide panels are weighted at the bottom and stay flat and quiet.
Best for: Panel glides are the modern alternative to vertical blinds. They suit contemporary and minimalist homes. If you currently have vertical blinds and they’re looking tired, panel glides are the natural upgrade.
Panel glide blinds use a multi-channel track system mounted above your window or on the ceiling. Each flat fabric panel hangs from its own roller-mounted carrier that clips into a channel in the track. The panels slide freely along their channels, moving left or right with a gentle push or pull. A wand control lets you operate the blinds without touching the fabric. Simply push the wand to glide the panels into position.
Motorised options are also available for remote, app, or voice control. The panels stack neatly behind each other when drawn open, taking up minimal space. When drawn closed, they overlap slightly for full coverage with no gaps.
The standard panel width is approximately 60cm, but we custom make panels to suit your specific window dimensions. Most sliding door installations use 4-6 panels depending on the width.
SMART HOME READY
Any of our panel glide systems can be fitted with a motor for automated operation. The panels glide open and closed at the touch of a remote, via your smartphone, or with a voice command. Motorised panel glides are especially useful for very wide openings where manual operation requires walking the full width of the window. Works with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit.
The natural choice for sliding doors. The panels operate on the same principle as the door, sliding out of the way for access and covering the glass when needed. Works with standard, bi-fold, and stacking door configurations.
Our Recommendation
Translucent or Blockout Panel Glides.
Panel glides add a clean, contemporary look to living areas. Translucent or sunscreen panels let you control light without losing the open feel. The minimalist design complements modern interiors.
Our Recommendation
Translucent or Sunscreen Panel Glides.
Blockout panel glides create total darkness for bedrooms with large windows. The flat panels sit flush, blocking more light at the edges than vertical blinds.
Our Recommendation
Blockout Panel Glides.
Mount panel glides on a ceiling track to divide open-plan spaces into zones. Use translucent panels for soft separation or blockout for full visual privacy. The panels stack flat against the wall when not in use.
Our Recommendation
Translucent Panel Glides on ceiling-mounted track.
