The Watson Quality Guarantee

At Watson, we insist on manufacturing most of our products locally so that we can control and be proud of the quality that comes out of our factory. For this reason, we offer lifetime product warranties for all products manufactured in-house. 

To put your mind further at ease, we also have the only local servicing team in the region. This means that if anything goes wrong with your product we will most likely fix it there and then ourselves instead of having to send it back to the factory that produced it, which may take weeks or even months to rectify and come back to you. 

  • At Watson Blinds & Awnings, all products are covered for both manufacturing and installation defects, effective from the installation date. This warranty applies solely to the original purchaser, provided the product has not been removed from the window and proof of purchase can be supplied.

    If a defect is assessed by Watson Blinds & Awnings as being the result of a manufacturing or installation issue, we will, at our discretion, repair or replace the item with a new product. Please note that the warranty does not apply in the following cases:

    • General wear and tear through normal use

    • Damage due to misuse, neglect, alterations, accidents, or abuse

    • Incorrect measurement, installation, cleaning, or maintenance not following our recommended guidelines

    • Fabric deterioration caused by scrubbing or cleaning with soaps, powders, or detergents not approved by Watson Blinds & Awnings

    • Issues caused by build-up of grime, leaves, bird droppings, or pooled water, leading to fungal growth

    • Natural weathering and ageing, such as fabric shrinkage, fading, timber warping, or discolouration over time

    • Mould, mildew, or warping due to high humidity

    • Natural variations and characteristics in materials such as linen, cotton, and timber (e.g. creasing, fading, and inconsistent texture or grain)

    • Weather-related damage including wind, rain, hail, lightning, or other acts of nature (e.g. Awnings should not be left out during windy or rainy conditions)

    • Installations located in environments prone to salt spray, moisture-laden air, industrial emissions, or corrosive elements

    • Any electrical work or related costs – these are the sole responsibility of the customer. Please note that batteries are not included under warranty

    • Products left damaged or non-functional for over three months without action

    • Any modification or incorrect installation made by someone other than a Watson Blinds & Awnings technician, or any installation not aligned with our provided instructions

    This warranty does not cover removal or re-installation costs for any returned or replaced items. However, in cases where the product does not meet the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, we will bear those costs in accordance with your legal rights. This warranty does not exclude or limit any rights or guarantees you are entitled to under Australian law.

    Please note that Watson Blinds & Awnings does not provide warranty coverage for incorrect selections or change of mind. If products are manufactured to the customer’s supplied measurements and those measurements are incorrect, we cannot accept returns on that basis. However, our team will always do their best to work with you on a suitable resolution, including the possibility of alterations or remakes.

    How to Make a Warranty Claim
    To lodge a claim under this warranty, please get in touch with your nearest Watson Blinds & Awnings store. You must be the original purchaser, able to provide proof of purchase, and the product must have been installed by our team.

Lifetime Warranty – As of 17th December, 2022

  • Our Lifetime Warranty covers all products we make, including curtains and sheers.
  • For all products that we sell but do not manufacture in-house, we offer the standard manufacturers’ up-to 10 year warranty.
  • 5 years’ lifetime on all motors and motorisation accessories such as remotes, sensors and home automation hubs.
  • 10 year lifetime on all fabrics.
  • If a home/ building is sold with Watson products installed, the lifetime warranty doesn’t pass on to the new owner as the contract of sale was with the original owner.
  • Please note that before 17 December 2022 Watson Warranties on all products was 2 years, so if your installation was before this date then the current Watson Lifetime Warranty does not apply.
  • Lifetime Warranties are only applicable to products made by Watson Blinds and Awnings Pty Ltd, and their subsidiaries, and/or partner entities.
  • In the event a part is deemed faulty or defective during its original expected lifetime, the customer will only be required to pay for the labour component of the rectification works;
    • Manufacturing labour charged at $65 per hour with timeframe to be determined by Watson Blinds and Awnings Pty. Ltd.
    • Installation and/or Service Call labour, charge at $65 per hour.
    • Minimum call-out fee of $199 exclusive of GST applies for all products outside of warranty.
  • A Lifetime Warranty is a guarantee that Watson will repair or replace any defective parts for products and comes at no additional cost for those items. The ‘lifetime’ may reference the suggested lifetime of the product (when used as intended), or the time that the product is in production or some years after that date).
  • Lifetime Warranty applies to orders received from 17th December, 2022. Deposits must be paid on or after this date. The Watson family and company have invested heavily in improved facilities, equipment, training and raw materials to be able to offer Lifetime Warranties on certain products.
  • Customers MUST follow our care instructions and guides provided on our invoices.
  • The term ‘original expected lifetime’ refers to the defined expected life (in years) of a product manufactured by Watson. This includes installation, parts and accessories.

    • Roller Blinds: 10 years
    • Vertical Blinds: 10 years
    • Roman Blinds: 3 years (external manufacturer’s warranty)
    • Honeycomb Blinds: 10 years
    • Veri shades: 10 years
    • Panel Glides: 10 years
    • External Blinds: 10 years
    • Traditional window awnings: 10 years
    • Drapery, Sheers and Curtain Tracks: 10 years
